Editorial Policy

How MECSN Insights and Security News are researched, written, reviewed and corrected.

Our purpose

MECSN publishes analysis and practical guidance for corporate security, risk, compliance and resilience professionals, with a focus on the Middle East and Africa and selected global developments that affect organisations in the region.

How articles are produced

  • Research: articles draw on reputable public sources — governments and regulators, standards bodies, established news organisations and recognised research publications. Sources are linked in the text and listed at the end of each article.
  • AI assistance: many articles are researched and drafted by AI tools working to MECSN editorial instructions. AI-assisted articles are labelled.
  • Quality checks: before publication, every AI-assisted article must cite at least two working sources and pass an automated fact-check of its claims against those sources. Articles that fail are held for a MECSN editor. MECSN editors monitor published articles and correct or remove anything inaccurate.
  • Originality: we summarise and analyse; we do not reproduce other publishers’ articles.

Standards

  • Accuracy: facts must be supported by a cited source.
  • Neutrality: political and conflict-related topics are covered factually, focusing on implications for people and organisations.
  • Safety: we do not publish operational details that could help someone cause harm.
  • Independence: articles are not paid placements. Sponsored content, if ever published, will be clearly labelled.

Corrections

If you believe an article contains an error, please contact us. We review every report and correct errors promptly, noting significant corrections in the article.

Job listings

Vacancies on the Security Jobs board are identified on employers’ official career sites and job systems, reviewed for relevance, verified as live and linked directly to the employer. MECSN is not the employer. Listings are re-checked regularly and marked “Expired” when they close.
