Code of Conduct

The ethical principles every MECSN member — individual or business — commits to.

MECSN promotes ethical conduct and responsible practices among its members. Professional collaboration and ethical conduct are complementary: a network is only as valuable as the trust its members place in one another.

Core ethical principles

  • Integrity — act honestly and responsibly in all professional dealings.
  • Professionalism — maintain high standards of competence, conduct and accountability.
  • Compliance with applicable laws — respect the laws and regulations of every jurisdiction in which you operate.
  • Human rights and dignity — respect the rights and dignity of employees, contractors and the public.
  • Fair labour practices — treat workers fairly, including respecting applicable minimum wage requirements.
  • Fair competition — compete on merit and avoid anti-competitive conduct.
  • Transparency — promote responsible decision-making and appropriate disclosure.
  • Anti-bribery and anti-corruption — never offer, give, request or accept improper advantages.
  • Conflicts of interest — avoid them, and disclose them when they arise.
  • Confidentiality — protect non-public information shared within the network.
  • Responsible procurement — support objective supplier selection and appropriate handling of gifts and hospitality.
  • Professional accountability — take responsibility for decisions and their consequences.

Individual members

Individual members are expected to behave with personal professional integrity: respecting confidentiality, avoiding and disclosing conflicts of interest, networking respectfully and appropriately, dealing fairly with colleagues and suppliers, and never using the network for inappropriate commercial solicitation or personal advantage.

Business members

Business members are expected to follow good corporate governance and applicable laws, hold the licences their activities require, practise responsible employment, compete fairly, act with integrity and deliver their services responsibly.

Fair competition principles

  • No price-fixing, bid-rigging or market-sharing arrangements.
  • No use of the network to exchange competitively sensitive information.
  • No misrepresentation of MECSN membership as certification or endorsement.
  • Respect for objective, transparent procurement processes.

Security Service Provider Standards Initiative

Draft programme — separate from ordinary membership. The details below are proposed and will apply only once formally approved. Ordinary business membership does not involve these assessments or fees, and no company is described as assessed or approved unless that status has been formally established.

MECSN is developing a more structured initiative for participating security service providers. Its proposed purpose is to improve the quality, compliance and professionalism of security services through defined standards, assessment and responsible industry practices. The proposed criteria may include:

  • Valid security operating licences
  • Compliance with applicable laws, including minimum wage laws
  • Fair employment practices
  • Public liability, employer liability and employee life insurance
  • Documented policies and procedures
  • Responsible operational practices, professional ethics and fair competition
  • Audit and assessment procedures

Under the proposed framework, participation may involve an initial fee of USD 250 and an annual renewal fee of USD 150, with assessment and audit followed by review by the MECSN Board at quarterly intervals. To register interest, contact us.
